Work is fun. This week we are ridiculously understaffed because karen left, mila was sick, and jeanette was in NJ. Due in part to this, today I ended up having to stay an extra two hours because we had a minor surgery. Now although I am “technically” an intern, I have been certified as a surgical technician, so when the other two techs both had appointments to make, Dr. J said, “well, Josh can stay and assist me, you guys go ahead.” That kind of faith doesn’t come cheap. It’s nice to know that after a year of working there, they know I am fully trained and competent. So I got to assist as the Dr. removed some growths from a cornea. Also assisted Dr. Massry as he flipped an inverted eyelid back in. I was the super tech today-go me. Days like this convince me more than ever that I want to spend my life in medicine.
While walking my pu
ppy today, I watched her get all excited when the wind hit her and run around in the breeze, and it made me realize that she is still less than year old, and everything she sees is new to her. I wonder how many people can still make that claim. Every so often I like to just stop what I am doing and take a moment to appreciate that I am alive and the world is my playground. To quote Ferris Bueller,” life is short. If you don’t stop every now and then to appreciate it, it might pass you by”
So with this cheering thought in mind, I decided what better way to thank my puppy for helping me realize this profound truth than to tease her mercilessly
SO here is my puppy on my bed after I tried teaching her to make a phone call…maybe I should let Nikka talk to telemarketers in the future, huh?
Moral of the Story: Find something to appreciate each day
2nd Moral: Puppies are fun
