Bamboozled does not mean liquored up
The incredibly belated, possibly overated, and super well hydrated but
not yet carbon-dated pics of the Chrismukkah party are now posted at
the picture site, along with some of winter break karaokeIs there anything nicer than putting on a clean shirt fresh out of the
dryer and then walking somewhere in 30 degree weather? if there is, i
dont have access to it yetAnd while i am ruminating on the weather, I was checking a number of
websites for my upcoming trip to Japan (sugoi!) and a lot of them
warned me that Japan this time of year is very, very, very cold. Of
course, none of these sites would actually say what that means, but
finally i got some straight answers… Tokyo is usually around low
30′s, and sapporo on hokkaido, the northernost island can drop to
tempuratures of -4 celsius! aka about 25 farenheittempurature range in chicago for the last 3 months…between 15-30
avg tempurature about 25i think i’ll be okay. and this has been a warm winter in chicago! w00t!
Oh and for those of you interested in my return to Japan, here is the
tentative itinerary…for those of you not interested…too badfeb 8-9th arrive in tokyo, spend day relaxing (well, relaxing for me, anyway)
feb 10th depart for sapporo to experience the magic and wonder of the snow festival
feb 12th return from magic and wonder of snow festival to tokyo
feb 13-16th tokyo and surrounding area with andy, and perhaps phil and steve-kamakura, nikko, wherever…fugu eating a must
feb 16th-18th kyoto, nara, tajima (maybe i can get a place to stay in nara, eh vinh?)
feb 19th through 22nd kyushu with ari- mt aso, beppu, kogoshimaall this is subject to change, but if you are in japan around these
dates and want to meet up, drop me a line. And andy, think about what
you would like me to bring from america besides peanut butter cups
(don’t worry i got your back)
As long as i am boring all of you with the details of my life here are some things i did today:
*50 pull ups
*lunch meeting with Dr. Pullen and some other administrators about the future of the AP program (i’m a big man…a BIG MAN)
*Broke a man’s skull with my BARE HANDS! Hulk Smash! Bwaaaaa!to clarify, this was an anatomy lab thingy. In order to reveal the back
of the larynx, we had to saw off the top of the skull (neat!) and then
saw along the middle cranial fossae lines (slightly harder) and finally
use a chisel to pry lose the piece of skull we had sawedHowever, chisels were hard to come by, and one of the girls in my group
made a half-joking remark that dude, The Josh, youve been working out
why dont you do it, and long story short, I braced one hand on the
inside of his skull and used the other to rip out the sawed piece,
tearing ligaments, skin and fascia along the way.Did i mention how bad ass i felt doing this?
then as long as i was on the bare (well, gloved) hands kick, i also
tore out several sections of charles’ spinal cord that were in our way.I am going to be really sad when anatomy is over…sure it makes me
feel dumb for not knowing stuff when they test it, but god damn, it is
hard not to feel macho when you are tearing out people’s hearts,
viscera, and cracking skulls on a daily basisAfter that, jayan and i were feeling so pumped we went to the gym to
work out. As per the dity workout (dity is a fellow student, so those
of you who have googled the dity workout, it does not exist outside the
school as of yet) the next two weeks is endurance training so we
alternate like soday 1: 50 pull ups done in 25 sets of 2, followed by 80-100 dips done in 10 sets of 8-10, followed by 4 minutes of squats
day 2: same as day 1 only do pull ups like dips and dips like pull ups
day 3 and 4: same as 1 and 2
repeat for 2 weeks
Ego stroking aside, i must say i am impressed with myself…even 1 year
ago i couldn’t do more than 3 pull ups total and that was only if i had
a spot….now i can do 15 straight, and 50 with breaks, and it
definetly showsaccording to apryl, i actually have an ass now. Go me!
Oh and random question for you viewers out there in internet land. And
i think you all realize that this usually means questions pertaining to
the fairer sexso randomly this girl has started being very friendly to me. noticing
my clothes at the club, complimenting my intelligence and dancing
ability, and saying hello to me a few times a day when before i would
see her on campus perhaps once a week. Now granted, this has happened
only in a 1 week period thus far, but from someone who has a reputation
of keeping to herself and her small groupNow add in the fact that she is cute, but also has a reputation of
being hard to get…what do her actions mean? is this indicating asking
her out would be met with favor, or has she just decided to be more
sociable and i am totally dropping the ball?keep in mind that i can not actually trust my own instincts nor those
of my primary wingman, given our complete and total misreading of the
pretty punjabi incident. which i am not going into, you wil just have
to check backlogsand that about does it for today…until the next post folks!

The josh remains mightily bamboozled
