As promised long long ago, the third and final installment of our med school boy band is now available on youtube.
But first, let’s go BEHIND THE MUSIC of 98 Kids on the back sync

Several years ago, a certain JD got into med school…and all was well until he found his brain was melting from sheer overheating. He decided the only way to relieve the pressure was with pop music. But knowing that with the possible exception of Justin Timberlake, any solo pop act is destined to crash and burn, he realized he had to form a boy band of truly epic proportions. SO he gathered 5 friends, and they did what any boy band would do

stole the tune to an already known song, and rewrote the lyrics. I now present a flashback to that very first performance. Choreography by the guy in the shades, lyrics by the guy in the hat, other three guys coerced into doing this. and now, 98 kids on the back sync in their very first live performance, “The M1A song”

If you cant understand the lyrics, comment and i will gladly edit this post to add them. Again the cast is…me in the green shirt as the one with the hat…the red shirt is choreography as one with the shades, the white shirt is the sensitive one, the purple shirt is the metro one, and the dark blue is the tall one. Cuz every boy band needs one with some identifiable quality

Their success was instantaneous. Their fresh new flavor lightened up the stale world of med school parody music. But all was not sunshine and lollipops with this new fame. The sensitive one couldnt handle the spotlight, and wanted out of the group…he picked up a couple of floozies, and in a scandal kept very hush hush, was quietly replaced with a new member-The Asian One- in an attempt to add more diversity. As for the Metro one, he realized that while looking fabulous was worth the effort, working on his dance moves was not, and when The Sensitive One left, The Metro One was also fired and replaced with a new Metro One. It was thought nobody would know the difference since they were both indian. One year later, after some time spent working with the new members, they released a new hit, “Everybody, Heal Somebody”**lyrics at end of post

Once again they sent shockwaves through the school with their thought provoking lyrics, hot choreography and amazing fashion sense. Again they were well received, but as usual in the world of pop music, the placid surface doesnt reveal the rumblings beneath. The Asian One began demanding more and more stage time, and then when it was given, suddenly decided he had changed his mind, and began complaining of minor injuries that were nonetheless severe enough to keep him from learning the new choreography. If that wasnt bad enough, The Tall one, a staple since the founding of the group, was leaving due to another job offer in the city. Though he and the other band members still keep in touch, he would not be able to do any future performances. The Band was falling apart, members dropping left and right. After some tough re-negotiations, The Asian One was convinced to rejoin the group, while The Metro One renamed himself to The Tall One to reinvent his image. Once again, a new random indian was picked up to be the new Metro One, and once again, nobody seemed to notice, on the general principle that all indian people look alike, and apparently they all look metro.

The Band booked their original venue for a comeback performance and everything was going well until 1 week before the big debut when The Asian One caught SARS and died. Being dedicated performers, the Band decided they had no choice but to go on, and with the help of a un-named big hollywood producer, returned for what they had all decided would be their final performance together. The song was called, “It’s Gonna Be M.E.”

While the audience was a little confused by the lack of a fifth member, this tribute performance received even more applause and attendance than the previous two, allowing the band members to leave on a high note. With only two of the original founding members remaining, and countless difficulties with sound, recruiting, and inspiration, they agreed to formally dissolve the band until further notice. Leaving on a high note, the band members, including the originals all keep in touch with each other, but whether or not another reunion will be attempted, none can say.

And thats the history of one of the most successful med school boy bands in history, 98 Kids on the Back Sync.
